Are people who claim to be Christian supposed to imitate Jesus?

Matthew 7:21-23
Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.

Many will say to me in that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’

Then I will declare to them: ‘I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!.

Supposed to 'imitate' Jesus?     I guess I could do a good job of trying to grow a beard (if the depictions of him are to be believed).

'Claim' to be Christian?  Lots of people claim to be lots of things.  Some even claim to be Black from 'pure' African parents when they're in reality white men from mongrel white parents.

Christians believe that Christ Jesus is exactly who He says He is, ie, God incarnate.  Christians are the disciples of Christ.  Christians endeavour to follow the two greatest Commandments, and from those all else follows.

Yes. To imitate Christ, first, you have to know Him.
And to know Him, first, you have to surrender all you are to Him,
And to surrender to Him, first, you have to know Him for who He is.

Nice to see both of you in your blind bigotry fail to address the actual point JJ is trying to make.

Well, we know where it's going to go, so we thought we'd take a short cut.

How about answering his question instead of creating a strawman that you're both more comfortable answering.

According to the scripture JJ put forward, Jesus as Gods right hand man will know the charlatans who preach is his name and reject them.

How do you know that you, and Ketty, are not workers of Lawlessness?

Do you follow Gods Laws, or your Churches?

I can't answer for Ketty, but I suspect her answer would be the same as mine:
I follow Christ Jesus, God Incarnate!

Do you follow Gods Laws, or your Churches?

What does this say?

1 Corinthians 11:1
Become imitators of me, just as I am of Christ.

Do Christians take any notice of these type of teachings?
