Ancestor Worship:

Should we revere our Ancestors, or ignore them as inconsequential?

Our ancestors used to show us our true path, but we now ignore them, where did we go wrong?

Re: Ancestor Worship:

I wouldn't say I worship my ancestors, but i do honour them - one in particular: John Brown of Priesthill, the 'Christian Carrier' of the covenant.
He set an example for others to follow.
Powwow

revere
to treat or regard somebody with admiration and deep respect

worship
reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred

Luci,
Your ancestors are far from sacred. So stop worshiping them already! LOL
Farmer Geddon

powsers - what happened to your ancestor worship?
Powwow

Luci,
You have us confused with some other peoples. Our worship was and is centered on Kisemanito the Creator.
Powwow

Sasser,
That's the pope's nose.LOL
Paul

We should honour (but not worship) our ancestors especially our ancestors in the faith. Tradition is all about what we have received from our fathers.

There was nothing special about them ... they were just humans like us, sometimes right and sometimes wrong. We haven't gone any more wrong than they did.

I disagree Len.. After all, ancestor worship was much revered in the good old days!!
Farmer Geddon

Oh shut the fuck up Lynne, before I stick my pow wow up your floo again!!

We should certainly  respect them. Although when you start to discover a few reprobates in your family history, that can become a bit of a challenge. One of my ancestors' lifestyle was rather obvious to anyone with a medical background who read his death certificate.
Farmer Geddon

But that is not what ancestor worship was about Lexi.. it was about revering them!!

Would this have anything to do with hypnotic regression where people turn out to be cleopatra or big chief passing wind.?

Nah, wrong thread. I  think that's the born again idea.

Funny how everyone was Cleopatra, and no one was the skivvy who cleaned out the royal toilets...
Farmer Geddon

Funny you should mention that Lexi - In a reading from 1979 the one who did said reading claimed that I was a 'librarian in ancient Alexandria" - at the time I had no clue what it meant.. I still don't.
