Hi there me auld friend, I hope yerself and imself are well and enjoying life to its fullest,   herindoors is doing nicely thank you but sad to say our beloved little friend is no longer with us – after 13+ years we had to make a decision to say goodbye last October because she was in so much pain, she had suffered liver failure the previous January; that amongst other complications left us with no choice – she is now resting under her favourite sunny spot in our garden, I can tell you, Tis a much sadder household that we return to every evening

Me and herindoors visited Powerscourt House and Gardens in Wicklow two weeks ago and in our walks around the magnificent gardens we came across the family’s pet cemetery and on one of the headstones was written this epitaph

Loved and faithful friend for 14 years

You’ve gone old friend
A grief too deep for tears
Fills all the emptiness
You’ve left behind
Gone is the dear
Companionship of years
The love that passed
All love of humankind

That just about sums us up here

What a wonderful epitaph! I confess it brought tears to my eyes.

I understand perfectly, Val ... we had the same trauma a couple of years ago. Few humans are as loving and faithful as dogs.
