Lesbianism: Does God Mind?

Some people are strongly against gay rights/marriage, anal sex etc & cite passages in the bible to support their view.

But all these passages (as far as I'm aware; please correct me if I'm wrong) refer to men.

So does god only have issues with male gays?
Is it an oversight?

For some people, any sex outwith marriage,
(marriage = between a man and a woman of course) is wrong, very wrong.  Very, very wrong.
So that covers guy/girl, guy/guy, girl/girl.

Also for some that covers not just full on rumpy-pumpy but also non-penetrative self or mutual pleasuring.

And even further, whilst in marriage you can only do 'it' if there is chance of offspring.
Because that is the sole purpose of sex!
So you can't even knock one out if your wife has a 'headache'!

Quite what those people in particular do after they have had all of the kids they are going to have, escapes me.
Slippers and a pipe anyone?

Whose belief do you believe you are paraphrasing, here?

The Bible doesn't specifically say many things and yet, within the 'whole picture' it does.  Each one of us will account for what we did and didn't do in His holy name.  In this life I would say that God doesn't have an 'issue' with anything we do because after giving us His blueprint and His example, He's left us to our own devices to make up our own minds as to how we deal with all of that for our own lives.   I'm sure much of what we do saddens and disappoints Him - but we know what to do about that; we know how to rectify it.

On the face of it it doesn't appear to be an unreasonable paraphrase of the Catholic Church's teaching that sex should be open to the possibility of the creation of new life.

Having said that there is no prohibition in that teaching, so far as I am aware, on sex within marriage where there is no reasonable chance of conception, e.g. for infertile couples or post-menopausal women so, strictly speaking, he's not entirely accurate.

Way off base, in fact. The idea that sex should be open to the possibility of procreation is by no means the same as saying that it is the only reason for it. The church has always stated that the joy of sex serves to strengthen companionship and bring people closer together.

Yeah, he'd probably been better saying "primary purpose" rather than "sole purpose".

Ah yes, this was the dodge often wheeled out by a great many opponents of same-sex marriage - a sort of ideological body-swerve. First they would say that marriage should be reserved for opposite-sex couples because only they can create new life, so they said; and when pointed out (as goodness knows it often was) that we don't have pre-nuptial fertility tests and freely allow the infertile and the childless by choice to marry, they would then dodge the issue by saying (with a great deal of back-pedalling and spluttering) ah, well, yes, right, maybe so, but procreation isn't the sole purpose of marriage.

Desperate and pathetic stuff, really.

Not at all, old boy. I think you have missed my point entirely. I am surprised to find you disgareeing with me when I express the view that having children is not the sole purpose of sex or of marriage. I certainly don't think that saying so reveals me to be either deparate or pathetic. Can you explain yourself?
