Our Holiday

Rob and I enjoyed our time floating about the Broads, here's a few pics

Horsey Mere wind pump. The beach is about a mile away, we saw sandmartins, a couple of skylarks, a linnet and two grass snakes - one was quite large- but alas they were squashed flat on the road. We also saw a swallowtail butterfly. At the beach we were able to catch glimpses of seals in the sea. We also spotted a man sunbathing completely starkers and was he burnt raw by the sun

Some Swallow chicks.

We came across this lovely view as we walked to St Helen's at Ransworth

jaqueline

St Helen's still has it's original mediviel paintings on it's Rood screen although it's lost it's crucifix.

Stokeby church and it's (possibly) 14thc sanctuary knocker

Part of Great Hoveton Broad nature reserve - it was like stepping right into another world, very peaceful but I wish there had been some seats to sit on to enjoy the quietness

Horsey Mere church with it's thatched roof, a typical sight in the broads

There was lots of geese and ducks, swans and grebe's on the Broads many still had their babies with them. The herons seemed very elusive this year but I did manage to catch a glimpse of a couple. On the Mon night we had moored up near West Somerton staithe in an isolated spot. Rob woke early and was on deck to enjoy the early morning sun and was delighted to hear a cuckoo.

Ketty

Lovely pics, especially the chicks.
Shaker

Some seriously lovely photos there Jaqueline: thanks so much for sharing them with us all
Ketty

What camera do you use?
jaqueline

The first 5 are Rob's pics as he has the better camera with a larger lens, I just use a basic digitial one. Not sure what Rob's is but it has 12 mega pixels as against my mere 3 and the basic lens on Rob's is x15 - all double dutch to me.
Ketty

Jaq!  That's not helpful, especially when I'm looking to upgrade my own little 'it'll do' camera!

Seriously, they're lovely pics and I'd be interested to know the camera details.
jaqueline

I'll try to remember to ask Rob later - whether I'll understand it is a moot point
Ketty

Make and model will do - I'm not technical (although I've been doing a bit of research).  Thank you.
jaqueline

Rob says his camera is a Fujifilm Finepix S1600 - hope you can understand that.
Shaker

No wonder the photos came out so well - I have a Finepix S7000. I've had it for years and it's served me so well throughout all that time of heavy use.

Yes, thanks Jaqs.  My original and now ancient and unused camera was a Fuji Finepix.  That's interesting . . . again, thank you.
