Thy Kingdom come

How is it that Christians have lost touch with the meaning of this request?

Matthew 24: 14

Revelation 21:3-4
Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

Re: Thy Kingdom come

er.....
What makes you think we have lost touch with the request?
I use the full version of the prayer - found in the Didache - daily, followed by Marana tha - and mean every word; trying to live it out as I pray?

Despite all the tribulations to come, all the obstacles to the spread of the gospel message, the gospel will be preached in every part of the world. God will never be without a witness.
"And I saw another angel fly from heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people," Rev.14:6

Then the end will come. The tribulation, the final excrutiating birth pangs.

What the Kingdom will do for ailing mankind.

Revelation 21:1-4
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea is no more. I saw also the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God and prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say:

Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

What makes you think that most Christians have lost touch with this commandment, the great commission, is that what the Watchtower society teaches you, or do you know this from experience?

Most Christians that I know are busily sharing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ, whilst watching and waiting for His return with a longing that words could not do justice to.

Daily our hearts cry out 'maranatha' and our heads tell us that while we are waiting there is still much to be done.

Yes, Maranatha, come Lord Jesus.

Ever wondered how Jesus separates the wheat from the weeds, so that he can set up his kingdom with the wheat Christians?
Jim

Well, and it's just a guess here (not), but
"He who comes to me, I will never turn away"
seems to cover it.

There seems these days to be a stress on ''being raptured'' however that is not the kingdom coming but a going to the kingdom.
Strang innit?

Seems that many who claim to be Christian have little idea of what God is doing at this time, could that be because they are not wheat Christians?
Jim

Who can know the mind of God, James?
But I do know He is active in this world, through His Spirit, changing, re-arranging and building His people, adding to His family and setting the life-choice before them.
And the term "wheat Christian" isn't Scriptural.
"Children of God" is.
(John 1:12)

Many profess to know what he did and what he wants, but I fear it is all wishful thinking.
Jim

Hi, Len,
Christians would claim to be able, through scripture and the Holy Spirit, to try to discern God's will for them.
That's a whole lot of difference in claiming to know the mind of God, or even claiming to speak for God.
As Author Adrian Plass says in his "Bacon Sandwiches and Salvation: an A-Z of Christian living":
"Thus spake the Lord..."
Not with these teeth, He doesn't...

1 Corinthians 2:16
For “who has come to know the mind of Jehovah, that he may instruct him? But we do have the mind of Christ.

Romans 12:2
Quit being fashioned after this system of things, but be transformed by making your mind over, that you may prove to yourselves the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

As I said, that's wishful thinking.

Is it? You mean they just claim to know part of his mind ... but it's still wishful thinking.

Imaginary beings can speak with any teeth they like!

Hello James,

Have you read the parable of the sower? Jesus explains what happens when people hear the word, or the good news of the gospel or the Kingdon, whatever you may wish to call it,

The seed that falls amongst the weeds can grow and will be seperated from the chaff, but what makes a Christian is hearing the word, accepting the word with joy, letting it take root deep within the heart and letting it grow and grow daily until the day when Almighty God brings in the harvest

See Matthew 13 there are several parables which explain everything, who sows the seed, why it grows or doesn't. who will harvest it and what will happen to the bad seed that is sown by satan.
