Is there any way I can disable the flashing light on 'judderslady's icon? I find it very distracting .

This nothing personal. Just a matter of making the board comfortable .

Smittims, unfortunately I don't think there's any way that you can stop seeing other people's avatars. Sorry

I'm using Mozilla Firefox as my web browser.  You can opt, under the Tools and Options menu to NOT show images.  The only problem is, it prevents the emoticons too - although, that may not be a problem?

Unfortunately I don't believe you can turn it off.

Although if you do discover a solution - please share.

Yes, but I use safari - so it wouldn't work.

Nice idea though.

Ah, right. I understand.

What if you 'right click' on the offending picture, does it give you a drop down menu and option to block the image?

Thanks anyway.

Thanks , I may try the Firefox solution as long as it doesn't affect my other 'favorite' web-sites.

I have asked judderslady on a thread if she can control it, merely to help  me to read her posts, as otherwise it may become too distracting.

I'd be the first to say: use Firefox anyway, it's a smashing browser. I've never used anything else for several years.
