For Holy Week (next week):

The Lord's Lamentations (in Romanian)

Link

This is the "funeral service" for Christ, the Lamentations by the Tomb, sung on the evening of Good Friday (so technically the first service of Saturday, the Sabbath).

It is amazing to me that this video is not on a loop, and that the singers are really keeping up the same rhythm for almost one hour.

For the English lyrics, go here:

I'll post wherever I damned well please - not that it's any concern of yours.

I hadn't realised that you had started the thread originally.  As someone once said:

Too funny.

Erm, why?

it's one of pow wows little sayings when he wants to put someone down. I thought he used on here but maybe I saw it over on the other board.

Ah, right. I have to admit I didn't recognise it as he doesn't use it nearly as often as 'lol,' which is shoved into every other post willy-nilly.

[quote="Floo:114199"]Would you be free from the burden of sin?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you o’er evil a victory win?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood. Refrain:

There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the blood of the Lamb;
There is pow’r, pow’r, wonder-working pow’r
In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Come for a cleansing to Calvary’s tide;
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.
Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow?
There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow;
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.
Would you do service for Jesus your King?

There’s pow’r in the blood, pow’r in the blood;
Would you live daily His praises to sing?
There’s wonderful pow’r in the blood.

Amen!
Great hymn, great tune, good theology.

Like many hymns that is a load of silly meaningless twaddle, imo!

yes. "imo" is about right.
How about justifying that opinion,. floo?

Покаяния отверзи ми двери (Open unto me the gates of repentance)

Link

Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

Open unto me the gates of repentance, O Giver of life,
for my spirit waketh at dawn toward Thy holy temple,
bearing a temple of the body all defiled.
But in Thy compassion, cleanse it by the loving-kindness of Thy mercy.

Both now and ever and unto ages of ages, Amen.

Guide me in the paths of salvation, O Mother of God,
for I have defiled my soul with shameful sins,
and have wasted all my life in slothfulness,
but by thine intercessions deliver me from all uncleanness.

Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy
And according to the multitude of Thy compassions, blot out my transgressions.
When I think of the multitude of evil things I have done, I, a wretched one,
I tremble at the fearful day of judgment;
but trusting in the mercy of Thy loving-kindness, like David do I cry unto Thee:
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Thy great mercy.

O Gladsome Light (evening hymn)

Link

    "O Gladsome Light of the Holy Glory of the Immortal Father, Heavenly, Holy, Blessed Jesus Christ! Now that we have come to the setting of the sun and behold the light of evening, we praise God Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is meet at all times to worship Thee with voices of praise. O Son of God and Giver of Life, therefore all the world gives Thee glory."

The Noble Joseph...

Link

Quote:
   The noble Joseph,
   when he had taken down Thy most pure body from the Tree,
   wrapped it in fine linen and anointed it with spices,
   and placed it in a new tomb.

An angel cried...

Link

An Angel cried to the Lady Full of Grace:
Rejoice, O Pure Virgin!
Again I say: Rejoice!
Your Son is risen from His three days in the tomb.
With Himself He has raised all the dead.
Rejoice, all ye people!
Shine, shine, O New Jerusalem,
The glory of the Lord has shone on you.
Exult now and be glad, O Zion,
Be radiant, O Pure Theotokos,
In the Resurrection of your Son!
