I think it was intended as a joke aimed at me - as I had opened the thread.

And there I was, thinking I was going to learn something from an intelligent debate!

Looks like the Farmer is more interested in dicking about than debating since he hasn't raised a single point relevant to the subject under debate in his opening gambit:

To be fair Vimes - it was kinda sprung on me...  I knew nothing about it until I popped my head in yesterday afternoon... and it took me a bit by surprise... I wasn't expecting any takers to be honest!!

I'm also at work, so I'll have to spend an evening or two working on the opening statement, so it might be nearer to the weekend before I post it.

Dicking around eh, at my age?   I might do my back in if I'm not careful!!

Damn it - this is not as easy as I thought it would be....

I've learned one vital lesson:  If you are going to choose a subject to debate - have it written-up before you propose it!!

(I now see why most debates are announced weeks, if not months, in advance - it's quite time consuming gathering all the information and structuring it so that it makes sense)!!

On hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Susan went straight to her grandparent's house to visit her 95-year-old grandmother and comfort her.

When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, "He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning."

Horrified, Susan told her grandmother that two people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble.

"Oh no, my dear," replied granny. "Many years ago, realising our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding, and out on the Dong."

She paused, wiped away a tear and then continued, "and if that damned ice cream truck hadn't come along, he'd still be alive today!"

Errmmmm...  I'm afraid I've been slacking on the 'debate' front - sorry and all that, but I have kinda been focusing on a new relationship which has also been kinda impeding, (in a good way), on many of my internet interests!!

I guess my heart is elsewhere at the moment and my enthusiasm for religiosity has been superseded by ma nouvelle histoire d'amour...........

A far more satisfying way (and I hope fruitful) to spend your time, mate.
