Maybe this should be stickified?

For Ket's benefit and anybody else interested.

There are two main ways of posting photographs in a forum such as NGLReturns. Both use external image-hosting sites, but there are two different approaches. Image-hosting sites such as Photobucket (there are squillions more) don't resize your photographs: if you have a huge image which you wish to post, it will show here as similarly huge. In other words, image-hosting sites such as Photobucket entail that, if and when necessary, you need to resize the image yourself.

For that reason I prefer to use the second kind of image-hosting site such as Image Bam and Image Venue (again, many others are available - Image Venue is the one I know best), which automatically shrinks down your photo to a consistent and regular clickable thumbnail every time. (There are four different sizes of thumbnail to choose from). Image Venue is 100% free, by the way, as most of these sites are and only requires you to sign up with a user name and password.

So having signed up to Image Venue, suppose you have an image which you wish to post. Having logged in to Image Venue, click on Browse to find the location of your image. Repeat the process if you have more than one image you want to post. The details of each image will appear in a small white square. You can choose from four different thumbnail sizes (100 x 100, which is small; 180 x 180 which is standard; 250 x 250 which is large and 300 x 300 which is super-sized) - personally I prefer to leave it on the default 180 x 180 but play around with it if you feel like it. Click on Send files; the page will refresh  and will display a string of code. All you need to do it highlight this code, copy it and paste it into the text box here, and bingo bongo, you've just posted your images on NGLReturns. They'll appear as thumbnails which everybody else can click on to see the full-sized article. It's as simple as that.

The attach file option works too. I hope.

Now that's interesting - it's something I've never used, perhaps because it's so tiny that it's easy to miss.

Fingers crossed:

It would be a great idea to stickify it.  I will suggest that to Lexi.

For one second there Shaker, I thought you'd taken one of the pics off my 'phone!  That little doggy is very similar at first glance to one that's very close to my heart.  I did a double-take.

I've looked and looked and can't see how to attach file.

Perhaps you missed it as much as I did! When you hit Post reply, in the white box which appears (where you type your text), in very small blue letters at the bottom left of the text box (underneath it/outside it) is Attach file - it's a hyperlink. Click on it and a new, smaller second window will pop up on screen where you can attach files - it's how I posted that picture of the Cavalier pup and is perhaps even easier than the external methods I suggested.

Like that:

I always check the 'Show as thumbnail' box so that even a colossal image shows up as a weeny thumbnail and it doesn't throw the alignment of the forum out of whack.
