It is when you want to preserve the faith which is why, for instance, when Constantinople was under threat from the Turk the Orthodox faithful preferred the heel of the Turk to the toe of the Pope.

Sure, but it's not Orthodoxy that's doing it. It's Islam for the most part. But then that religion is essentially founded on it.
