I haven't tried Cervantes yet - although he is on my list of authors I plan to get around to.

Dostoyevsky is good though - and I would add Franz Kafka.

Ooh - a classicist. Love Chaucer, Shakespeare and Joseph Conrad. Not keen on Herman Melville, and I have struggled a bit to get into Dante's inferno.

Moby Dick is one of truly great novels and Dante is just sublime
