Can the decline of state education be firmly rested on the antics of Pink Floyd?

"We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

We don't need no education
We don't need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone
Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!
All in all it's just another brick in the wall.
All in all you're just another brick in the wall.

"Wrong, Do it again!"

"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding.
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"

"You! Yes, you behind the bike-sheds, stand still laddy!"

I couldn't be bothered to listen to the tape, but the lyrics above make me wonder if the writer was all there.

I think it is about the way school tries to teach children to conform so they fit into society.
It's a bit of a rebel song    about schools turning out little bricks (squares) in the wall!

Another one was Alice Coopers

School's Out / Alice Cooper

Well, we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin' all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Well, we can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag
School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces
No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks
Well, we got no class
And we got no principles
And we got no innocence
We can't even think of a word that rhymes
School's out for summer
School's out forever
School's been blown to pieces
No more pencils
No more books
No more teacher's dirty looks
Out for summer
Out 'til fall
We might not go back at all
School's out forever
School's out for summer
School's out with fever
School's out completely

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4_I4ylzbrTE

I used to like Alice Cooper ......
Summer holidays.....no school for six weeks

ROFL

Considering ten of the people I see on a weekly, if not daily basis were at a tribute to Pink Floyd recently..

To be fair, I don't think education has declined. I think it has changed though.

I am genuinely impressed by my children's mastery of the English language, history, Maths, Geography

I am less than impressed with their music, and other languages.

Bunch of millionaire rock stars telling kids they don't need an education?
